I have added a couple new families to the 2017 Revit template that will help with Wood Shear Wall Calculations and Notation.
First is the Shear Wall Schedule. This family has (4) wall height options (8ft, 9ft, 10ft and 11ft) that have been pre-claculated. We have PDF's of the calculations in the Denver Master folder.
Next we created a plan Detail Item (Line Based) that will provide you with a wall capacity based on the shear wall type. In this example Wall Type S1, based on the length of the wall it tells me that it has 43.8 kips of capacity. I can manually enter the wall load and it will provide me with and end wall reaction.
There is also the option to check a perforated shear wall. If you check "Perforated" in the instance properties you can enter up to (5) wall segments. From here it will calculate the "Co" value from the wood manual and give you an updated wall capacity. If any of the segments don't meet the 3.5 ratio, the capacity will go to zero.
I have created copies of the framing plans that will only show the arch'l backgrounds. The scale is reduced to fit on an 8.5x11 calc sheet. If you group the walls from the floor plans and paste them onto the SW Plans the group will update on both sheets. You can then use the (2) Shear Wall Tags to tag the information you need on each sheet.
